| Hi there!
😀 Kristof De Mey here. I'm writing to you in person this time because of a special occasion. Please give it a read below and feel free to come back to me with any questions, suggestions for meetings or visits, slide decks I need to have on my laptop, or any other opportunities that you think might be valuable (to you).
🌎 Here it is: as part of its internationalization strategy and with a direct link to the growing alumni network, Ghent University is organizing various international missions with the objective to strengthen relationships with complementary institutions, labs, etc. The next one is starting at the end of this week and will be focused on the Bay Area (San Francisco & Palo Alto).
🤝 In my role as both the Ghent University and STRN business developer, I'm happy to let you know that I'll be joining this mission together with our rector and head of the university - Rik Van de Walle and a variety of researchers.
📆 On the agenda: visits to academic institutions as Stanford University, UC Berkeley and UCSF, and companies as Google, Apple & a variety of 1 on 1 meetings with entrepreneurs, sports or health professionals, etc. I'll be accompanied by Prof. Erik Mannens who is taking the lead in the SolidLab Flanders project (a new standard in data protection).
👌🏼 Just the week after, there is the conference from our friends at the (ISEA) International Sports Engineering Association at Purdue University. So I'll travel to Chicago & Purdue from there. I'll be joining a panel discussion and Prof. Steven Verstockt will be presenting about his work on the automatic summarization of cyclocross races. Full program of that event can be found here.
🏀 In Chicago, we planned some more meetings and (hooray!!) will visit the Chicago Sky WNBA team with Belgian Ann Wauters as their new assistant coach, who will be playing the Washington Mystics June 5th. Back home on June 12th!
✍️ Again, the reason for this writing is to make this trip as valuable as possible. Not only for me, but also for all people - as yourself - within our growing network. You know where to find me in case you think we should exchange some thoughts on this.
Cheers. Kristof | |
